KEARNEY, Neb. — The community will have the opportunity on Thursday to meet Paul Plinske, the third of four finalists for the University of Nebraska at Kearney athletics director position.
A campus community and media forum is scheduled at 11 a.m. in the Ponderosa Room at the Nebraskan Student Union. A community forum open to the public will begin at 5 p.m. in the Nebraskan Student Union room 310.
Plinske has been director of athletics at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater (Division III) since 2004. He was previously associate director of athletics at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (1994-2004) and involved in athletics administration at the University of Illinois and University of Minnesota while pursuing master’s and doctoral degrees, respectively.
During Plinske’s tenure, UW-Whitewater secured more than $12 million through fundraising to support facility enhancements, including an $8 million outdoor athletic complex renovation.
Under his leadership, UW-Whitewater has won nine national championships, had seven national runner-up finishes and won 42 conference titles. Plinske recently concluded a three-year term as chair of the NCAA Division I, II and III women’s gymnastics committee.
